Privacy policy
This page describes how Marovi handles information about visitors to the site at https://marovi.ai. It is written in plain language; if anything is unclear, the contact at the bottom is the right address.
What we collect
- Page-view analytics — when you visit a page, we record an anonymized event in Google Analytics 4. The IP address is anonymized at the source so the last octet is dropped before storage. We see country-level location, device type, page URL, referrer, and time on page. We do not see your full IP address or any personally-identifying information.
- Cookie preferences — your choice to accept or decline analytics is stored in your browser's local storage. If you decline, no analytics events are sent at all.
- Account information (if you sign in) — email address and a hashed password. Used only to authenticate edits and attribute contributions. We do not share this with third parties.
- Edit history — every edit to a wiki page is recorded with the editing user (or anonymous IP) and a timestamp. This is standard MediaWiki behavior and is necessary for content provenance and revert tooling.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not sell or rent any data, ever.
- We do not run advertising on the site, so no ad-network tracking.
- We do not use Google Analytics features that require advertising consent (Demographics & Interests, Remarketing).
- We do not embed third-party social-media widgets that would track you across sites.
How long we keep data
- Analytics events: 14 months (the default GA4 retention; auto-deleted after).
- Account data: until the account is deleted at the user's request.
- Edit history: indefinitely, for content integrity reasons. Edits attributed to a registered account remain attributed even after the account is deleted; anonymous edits are kept by IP. (You can request anonymization of your edits by contacting us; see Contact below.)
Your rights
- Opt out of analytics — click "Decline" on the consent banner, or clear your browser's local storage. The site works identically either way.
- Account deletion — request via email; we'll delete the account record within 30 days.
- Data export — request via email; we'll send a JSON export of any data we hold for your account.
- Right to be forgotten — request via email; we'll honor the request to the extent permitted by content-integrity considerations (edit history may be retained but anonymized).
Cookies
The site uses two categories of browser storage:
- Strictly necessary — session cookies for login state. These are set when you sign in and cleared when you sign out.
- Analytics — Google Analytics cookies (`_ga`, `_gid`, `_gat`), set only after you click "Accept" on the consent banner.
Children's privacy
Marovi is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if our practices change and note the change in the page history. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
