Our Mission

We are committed to democratizing automatic translation and making artificial intelligence (AI) research papers and documents accessible in all languages for free, starting with Spanish. By leveraging the power of large language models, crowdsourcing technologies like MediaWiki, and existing translation systems, we are determined to create the best repository of translations for scholarly work on AI. At the end of the day, our goal is to make world-class AI literacy available to anyone who seeks it.

To achieve our mission, we are focused on the following key objectives:

  • Translate AI research papers into all requested languages, enabling our community to crowdsource corrections when machine translation falls short, and proofreading the Spanish translations ourselves.
  • Develop and refine our translation system to achieve the best results, utilizing both open-source models and existing systems (e.g., Google Translate), without relying on a single company or large language model.
  • Create a comprehensive, multilingual glossary of AI terminology to make complex papers more approachable and to assist with accurate translations across languages.
  • Build extensive translation datasets to support community-driven improvements and establish a robust benchmark for translating AI research papers effectively.
  • Facilitate global discussions of AI research, bringing readers from around the world together to engage in unified conversations about both the research itself and the accurate translation of its content.

Contact Us

This project is entirely open source, and we welcome contributions from anyone interested. We will soon provide detailed instructions for how to contribute, and we plan to enable anyone with an account to suggest corrections to the translations. We look forward to collaborating with you and engaging in meaningful discussions as we work to make AI research accessible to everyone.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or just want to connect, feel free to reach out!

About Us

'Us' is just me, Felipe Felix Arias, an AI PhD dropout currently working on machine learning at Uber, and my cousin, Sebastian Estrada, a Software Engineering student at McGill University. We both grew up in La Paz, Bolivia, but I moved to Chicago in 2008, where I earned a BS and MS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Sebastian recently moved to Canada to pursue his Bachelor’s degree at McGill. He is an impressive student and has been key in keeping me determined to see this project through.

Throughout my academic and professional career, I've often been the only person who speaks both English and Spanish fluently while having a strong background in AI research. I feel a deep responsibility to use these skills to make AI more accessible. The idea for this community has been on my mind for over a year now, and I’m driven to bring it to life. If this helps even a single student who hasn’t had the opportunity to learn English well enough to read AI papers, then it will all have been worth it.
